I love the series... it really gets my blood pumping... Its a lot like Fighting Spirit (Hajime no Ippo)...

Hey myself i think of Anime as a visual art, and i don't like distractions while i'm taking it in. Its kinda like going to the museum and getting a headset that tells you all about the paintings. its nice and all but you don't get time to take in the whole picture to make your own judgements on it. thats how i feel about subbed anime. If i'm too busy trying to read it leaves little time for me to understand/appricieate the beauty on the screen.

btw what the crap do you mean you can be emotive in English? crap it may just be me but i believe that people have been acting in europe as long as they have in eastern asia. but i guess someone needs to tell shakespeare that his work is inferior because its in english.

As an artist myself i don't believe that we should force artists to change their work, but i've actually had conversations with japaneese friends and they all wonder what the crap is wrong with people becuase americans don't want to watch stuff in the language that americans speak.

I'm not condemming subs... in fact i've partaken of them in the past when the dub didn't tickle my fancy. Plus most of the sub lovers remember the days when dubs were a lot worse and subs cost 10 dollars more. but thats just my two cents... i think we should all live happily in the fact that we are able to partake of anime in any form :D

Okay... this will get a little hairy as the story involves flashbacks within flashbacks within flashbacks but here goes.

As the story starts off we find our main character, Ivan Isaacs (The Priest) on a train with several other passengers. Something goes wrong and a crate full of Zombie / Demons gets released on the train. (stay with me it gets a lot better) after fighting them off we come to find that Ivan has sold half of his soul to the devil Belial to return to reap vengence on the Entity (semi demon semi angel) name Temozarella. It then goes into Ivans past dealing with his love for the daughter of the man that adopted him and his banishment from that house into the clergy. It delves deeper into their relationship and what eventually brings him to release the Temozarella and the origins of temozarell and belial. So as not to spoil it for you i'll go ahead and say that the books while starting off as heavy action actually go more for a deeply character driven drama and actually makes you take a look at a man who has fallen from faith and the choices he makes when this happens. very interesting...

Hey guys... I just wanted to drop a line and talk about Priest. See if i could kick up a discussion and possibly some fan fervor and get this series the attention it needs. I picked up Priest Vol 1 over the holidays. I'd been looking at it for quite some time and with a few more bucks in my pocket thanks to my Xmas bonus i decided to pick it up. The first volume was awesome, unique characters and high quality art... in a sketchy sort of way. The creator is very skilled at weaving the emotions of his characters and developing them all in the midst of a Horror/Action/Western setting... this really is awesome and i recomend it fully... if anyone else has read it i'd love to hear your thoughts / opinions on the manga and how bad you'd like to see vol 15... those of you who haven't read it i'd be more than happy to give you a more complete rundown of the series as well.

Good News Everyone... After researching this i found that not only will there be a dual language disk but there will be an uncut box set released July 2006... I'm not sure how many Episodes it'll have but thats definatly welcome news!

f

I have no idea why i thought that there would be anything more than people going "Oh Noes They Dubbez my Naruto!!!1" on this thread.... Maybe i thought that there would be some intellegent discussion about the dub its pros and cons and the edits that have taken place. I like Naruto, and honestly i've never seen it in anything but the dub formatting for two reasons
1. Japanese Companines get no money from fan subbers. none! so this anime that you love you aren't supporting at all. American companies are NOT going to release a product as hot as Naruto without dubbing it. Get over it when the uncut DVD's come out then you can watch it that way. Heck thats what i entend to do.
2. I love anime. I want anime to become mainstream in America! do i want it to be edited... HELL NO! i want it as fresh as the day it was born. Do i want a good dub track? Yeah would be nice. I hope everyone can agree that kicking back and watchin a good episode of Cowboy Bebop (where the sub was as good if not better than the dub) without havin to read...

In all my time of being an Otaku I've never downloaded more than one or two episodes of a given series. So back on the point of Naruto from what i hear the dub is OK not great but okay... which i can deal with. and the cuts aren't nearly as bad as they thought they'd be. In fact if anyone has noticed a killer cut i'd like to know.

btw I'm not condemming Fansubbers or the people who download them. I'm saying if you do download make sure to pick up either a copy or import one from japan. that helps the people who make the stuff we all love get to keep making the stuff that we love

f

Well My CCNA just expired so i'm just down to an A+

f

Well i'm not thinkin that the world is really gonna end... well except when the universe collapses or the sun explodes or somethin... Humans will be killed by stupidity... hands down... and the planet will be here long after we're gone... Mother Earths really good at healing herself...

f

I'm all for the dubbin... the people who don't want the dub have already imported / downloaded a fansub... so its not like its gonna come and take a slimey dump in your punchbowl... if you don't wanna hear it dubbed then hey i've got an idea don't buy it... its not like its going to ruin peoples impressions of the series based on a cast of voice actors they have never heard before... I say dub away and more power to em... I haven't seen the series and don't really plan to until it becomes dubbed... I'm not really offended by Subbed stuff i just would rather spend my time watching the on screen action than reading... personal pref i guess... and if it does get dubbed by some horrible cast... don't blame it on the distributors blame it on the people who sold it to them...

f

Mugen - Samurai Champloo... even though he's not really a Samurai by the definition of the word... but he's prolly my fav

f

f

By Console,

Smash Bros - GCN
Halo / Halo 2 - Xbox
Marvel vs Capcom2 or Twisted Metal Black - PS2

Argh... Does everything that comes out for the game cube have to have one of nintendo's golden boy's in it... This reminds me of an article i saw based on what was nintendo doing wrong.. and after seeing this i really have to agree... what happened to Nintendo's sense of wanting to do something different... somthing new... we haven't heard of anything really big for the gamecube on nintendo's part for awhile... what happened to the company that gave us games like Pokemon and Starfox... obvious changes from the norm... I just missed the old nintendo that would be willing to take a chance on a game that wasn't aimed specifically at nintendo fans... but hey i can't wait for the next Legend of Zelda.. so i guess i can't say too much

2. Gundam MS08th Team :
Close battle between Norris Packard ( Ace Pilot ) from Zeon, using Leva
( Special Gouf Type MS ) against MS 08th team protecting 3 GunTanks.
Later on Norris gave up his life just to destroy the last GunTank
protected by Shiro Amada. He did not kill Shiro, since he just know
that Shiro is Aina's lover. He just destroy the Guntanks and not even
attack Shiro's ms.
patriotic, ( Norris ) willing to sacrifice for the sake of his foster
daughter (Aina).
One statement from Norris that is very poetic :
"a man's value is determined by his accomplishment."

God I loved that scene it made me get back into Gundam... It just showed what a man can do with a Zaku... Which is by far my Favorite Mecha... That mixed with an honorable man... and an awesome scene when the zaku takes out a guntank at close range with his sword... the oil splatter made it look so awesome...

Quote by Balmung262 Well my favorite fight scene is Wing Zero Custom V.S Nataku or Altron Gundam Custom or something... when they where fighting in earths athmosphere it was kewl.

God i loved this battle (although it was the Shenlong Custom...) I always liked Wufei's gundam because of the dragons and this battle didn't dissappoint at all...

f

Hey guys, I've recently started picking up some really good anime that is horribly depressing... the one that i can say off the top of my head is Voices of a Distant Star... God it was heart wrenching... but at the same time I felt myself falling in love with the whole style of it... Somber... but thouroughly enjoyable... my question is what other animes are out there that share that kind of somber saddened type of quality.. And i'm not looking for something that has a funny story with a sad ending... something where you can identify with the characters because of their pain.. I've heard Saikano is supposed to be like that... but i have yet to get me a copy... let me know guys... share your pain!

f

Cowboy Bebop, and Please Teacher

f

I really enjoyed the movie... I had very good set of characters the artwork was nice.. The first one was good but was a little cheesy... I really think this is one of the standards for making and anime "movie" but thats just me hopefully we'll get some more of D's adventures before i'm old and grey...

f

Argh... gotta go with SC played it way too much... thou warcraft was fun too and i'm now playing world of warcraft

f

I gotta say the seven samurai... or well rumble in the bronyx... that movie was actually filmed in Hong Kong so i guess it counts... back in jackies hey day... and alexander nevsky... russian film filmed in 1938... not bad... hard to get a copy of... but technically still an asian movie ;)

f

I have spoken with some of them at anime conventions and such... but never had an extended conversation with anyone...

f

From my understanding and i haven't been able to confirm this is that they are working on another release... I mean they have the perfect cast from Stand Alone Complex... and it even has the same actor who played Batou.... We'll see... Might have to start an online petition or email campain or something...
